How often is Penumbra updated?
We aim to add new items within 10 working days of their release, but they will often appear much earlier.
How do I know what has been changed from day to day?
Go to the Latest Additions page and you will see a list of recently-added items.
We fully encourage subscribers to provide feedback in relation to the design, contents and functionality of the software and will incorporate suggestions wherever appropriate. Please inform us via the Contact Us page. We can easily accommodate requests for additions to the Index. Other changes may take that little bit longer!
What is the best way to find a particular subject?
The first place to go is the Index where we have linked keywords/phrases to specific topics.
If that doesn't get you to what you need, please use the Search function at the top right of the screen.
Alternatively, please use the Contents list on the left and 'drill' down the various menus
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any difficulty getting to the right place.
Can I print out particular topics?
Click the printer icon at the top right of the screen to print the page.
To print a smaller part of the page, click the printer icon at the top right of the screen and then ensure your printer option is set to 'print selection'.
We intend to develop the printing options further, including the option to print to PDF format.
Does each screen show the date the rule/regulation was implemented?
Where amendments have been made, commencement dates have been included.
Penumbra is based on the position prevailing in the summer of 2006 and therefore those items changed prior to that date do not always have the relevant history attached.
What history of changes is retained?
Penumbra is based on the position as at mid-2006. Subsequent changes show both the amended text and the pre-amended text. Wherever feasible, pre mid-2006 changes have been highlighted in the same manner.
How many cross references are in Penumbra?
More than 40,000, along with 100 keywords used for indexing the 1500 pages.

How can I obtain free Training on how best to use Penumbra?
We are very pleased to provide training for you and your colleagues - we do not normally charge a fee for such training, but do appreciate our expenses being reimbursed!
We are well used to training many people in one day, but recommend no more than 15 at any one time.
Please allow about an hour for each session.
We generally use a laptop linked up to a large display, but a PC with a large screen will suffice providing the numbers are small.
During the session we will provide company background and an introduction to the contents of the system, followed by a thorough explanation of the ways of getting round Penumbra in the most efficient manner.
Please contact us for more details and to arrange training times.
Can I bookmark specific pages in Penumbra?
Yes, first go to the page you want to Bookmark
Then click on the Book at the top right of the screen.
Alternatively, go to Favourites in your Browser and click on Add to Favourites, then choose the place the bookmark is to be stored.
Jumps (or hyperlinks) are links from one page to another and are identified by being in blue. When you place the mouse over a jump, the pointer changes to a hand shape.

IP authentication is primarily about convenience, rather than extra security. The level of security is comparable with that for password-based authentication. However, it does mean that anyone who has access to a computer within the specified range can access penumbra without identification.
Accordingly, we do not intend making IP Authentication available on this product.
